Koreatown packs 2.7 square miles with more energy than neighborhoods ten times its size — a dense grid of multi-level malls, 24-hour restaurants, karaoke rooms, and Art Deco landmarks stacked shoulder to shoulder along Western, Vermont, Wilshire, and Olympic. It’s one of L.A.’s most diverse pockets, built by generations of Korean immigrants and now shared with Latino and other Asian communities who keep its street life running around the clock. This guide rounds up ten places that show why, from a century-old theater to a bowl of hand-cut noodles at 2 a.m.
Landmark
Opened in 1931 on the corner of Wilshire and Western, the Wiltern is one of the last intact Art Deco theaters in Los Angeles, wrapped in a blue-green terracotta facade that still stops traffic. Inside, a sunburst ceiling of stylized skyscrapers frames a stage that has hosted everyone from touring rock acts to seated concert series, all under gilded columns original to the building.
Shopping
This multi-level mall at Western and 6th is less a shopping center than a small city, packing K-pop merch stores, skincare counters, and clothing racks around a food court that locals treat as a cafeteria. Weekend crowds spill between the escalators and the ground-floor market, making it one of the easiest places to feel Koreatown's daily rhythm in a single visit.
Dining
Koreatown's food scene isn't only Korean, it's also home to one of the best Oaxacan restaurants in the country. Guelaguetza opened in 1994, founded by Fernando Lopez and Maria Monterrubio, and is now run by their children. The restaurant has earned a James Beard Foundation Award and glowing reviews from food critics for its rich mole sauces (try the negro, rojo, or coloradito), tlayudas, and other Oaxacan specialties made from family recipes.
Stay & Social
Set inside a mid-century former Atlantic Richfield building, the Line anchors the neighborhood's more design-forward side, with a lobby, shops, and rooftop pool that draw locals as much as overnight guests. Its restaurants and bars have become de facto meeting points for Koreatown's newer wave of chefs and bartenders.
Wellness
Crystal is a 24-hour Korean spa built around a co-ed jimjilbang, plus separate men’s and women’s dry and steam saunas, a Himalayan salt room, and a full menu of massage and acupressure treatments. Entry runs around $30, but the fee is typically waived if you book a service, making a sauna afternoon and a massage an easy pair.
Dining
Named for the retired Korean wrestler and TV personality who founded it, Baekjeong is the neighborhood’s reigning Korean BBQ destination, known for tableside grilling and a lively, high-volume dining room. Expect a wait most nights, but the marinated short rib and thick-cut pork belly are the reason regulars keep coming back.
Dining
Just north of the neighborhood's core, along 3rd Street, you'll find Little Bangladesh — an officially designated enclave and the cultural and culinary hub of LA's Bangladeshi community. Biriyani Kabob House is one of its most beloved spots: a casual, counter-service restaurant serving halal Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Indian food.
Outdoors
Liberty Park functions as Koreatown's communal backyard, hosting street festivals, seasonal markets, and public World Cup viewings for a neighborhood with deep ties to Korean broadcaster Radio Korea, headquartered nearby. It's one of the few green, open-air spaces in a district defined by density, and it fills up fast whenever something's being celebrated.
Nightlife
One of Koreatown's most popular noraebang, Soop Sok offers close to two dozen private karaoke rooms sized for everything from a couple to a party of thirty. It's a fixture of the neighborhood's late-night circuit, the kind of place regulars book on a Friday without needing a reason.
Food
Hangari built its reputation on kalguksu, hand-cut knife noodles served in a broth approachable enough for first-timers and satisfying enough for regulars, alongside bossam, steamed pork belly wrapped with cabbage. It's frequently the first recommendation locals give newcomers looking for an easy, unintimidating introduction to Koreatown dining.
Family Medicine Resident
I enjoy caring for patients and supporting their overall well-being.
Family Medicine Resident
Growing up in Los Angeles, I experienced firsthand how a person’s neighborhood, language, and access to care can shape their overall health. I’m grateful to join Kheir and serve the local community in a way that extends beyond medicine alone.
Family Medicine Resident
What drew me to family medicine is the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients while caring for a wide range of medical needs across different stages of life. I am especially drawn to community health centers because they allow me to provide comprehensive, accessible care to diverse and underserved populations while addressing both the medical and social factors that influence health.

ADHC Administrator
My career path has been centered on serving and caring for people, including my previous healthcare experience with U.S. Renal Care, where I worked closely with patients and learned the importance of compassionate, individualized care. My background and graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) have further strengthened my belief in understanding each person as a whole and providing care with empathy, dignity, and respect.
My goal is to help every participant feel respected, supported, and genuinely cared for. I believe quality care begins with listening, understanding each individual’s needs, and treating every person with compassion and dignity.
Pharmacist
Your health is our top priority. Kheir pharmacy staff are here to listen to your concerns, answer questions and build trusteeship in our community.
Optometrist
I wanted to practice in a community healthcare setting because I know just how daunting it can be to receive healthcare in an unfamiliar setting and language as an immigrant myself. I hope to better my patients’ experiences and access to healthcare by providing them proper, multi-cultural care that they deserve.
Optometrist
I was drawn to community health because I believe everyone deserves access to quality, compassionate eye care. My approach is centered on listening to my patients, educating them about their eye health, and providing personalized care.

Family Medicine Physician
I believe a patient’s own perspective is just as essential to their care as anything I bring to the exam room.

Family Medicine Physician
I am a lifelong Angeleno and have been involved in graduate medical education in family medicine since 2012. I graduated medical school in 2000 and have practiced in LA ever since. I went into medicine to work in communities reflective of where and how I grew up. I like to make sure patients understand their current health status and feel free to ask questions.
I know patients have full lives with many responsibilities, and I try to address as many issues as possible in each visit to minimize return trips to the clinic, which often come with their own transportation issues and time away from work. Health care should not add a burden to your already full plate.

Medical Director, QI Chair
I believe everyone deserves high-quality healthcare. Working in community health allows me to care for people who might otherwise have difficulty accessing it and to build long-term relationships with my patients. I see healthcare as a partnership. My goal is to provide evidence-based care while helping patients navigate a complex healthcare system and create realistic plans that fit their goals, values, and lives. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
Physician Assistant
I chose to become a Physician Assistant to help people directly, and community health work lets me focus on patients who often face the biggest barriers to care. That’s what makes this job meaningful to me.
Nurse Practitioner
I welcome every patient who needs care. I am proud to serve the community where I grew up and help to meet the healthcare needs in Koreatown.
Medical Director
Since graduating residency in 2015, I have served the Los Angeles community at Kheir Clinic as both a staff physician and medical director. I am dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care while shaping the future of medicine as a core faculty member of our residency program. In this role, I look forward to mentoring and developing the next generation of compassionate physicians.
Family Medicine Physician
I was drawn to family medicine because I want to help people stay as healthy as possible so that they can live their lives to the fullest. I love taking care of the whole family, which is why I chose a specialty where I can see kids, parents, and grandparents. My own parents are immigrants for whom English is a second language and they had limitations in their own health care due to challenges with navigating the American healthcare system. I chose to work in a community center to help patients like my family.
Physician Assistant
As a first-generation clinician, my commitment is to deliver culturally responsive, evidence-based medicine that bridges gaps in care and fosters lasting wellness for our community.
Physician Assistant
Born and raised in Los Angeles myself, it is a privilege to give back to my community as a clinician and provide culturally competent primary care to my patients.
Pediatrician
I chose pediatrics because I enjoy building long-term relationships with children and their families and supporting them as they grow. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, including playing tennis and running. I also love reading.
