My career path has been centered on serving and caring for people, including my previous healthcare experience with U.S. Renal Care, where I worked closely with patients and learned the importance of compassionate, individualized care. My background and graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) have further strengthened my belief in understanding each person as a whole and providing care with empathy, dignity, and respect.

My goal is to help every participant feel respected, supported, and genuinely cared for. I believe quality care begins with listening, understanding each individual’s needs, and treating every person with compassion and dignity.

I am a lifelong Angeleno and have been involved in graduate medical education in family medicine since 2012. I graduated medical school in 2000 and have practiced in LA ever since. I went into medicine to work in communities reflective of where and how I grew up. I like to make sure patients understand their current health status and feel free to ask questions.

I know patients have full lives with many responsibilities, and I try to address as many issues as possible in each visit to minimize return trips to the clinic, which often come with their own transportation issues and time away from work. Health care should not add a burden to your already full plate.

My goal is to provide evidence-based care while helping patients navigate a complex healthcare system and create realistic plans that fit their goals, values, and lives. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

I am dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care while shaping the future of medicine as a core faculty member of our residency program. In this role, I look forward to mentoring and developing the next generation of compassionate physicians.  

Chris Harin Chang, MD

I was drawn to family medicine because I want to help people stay as healthy as possible so that they can live their lives to the fullest. I love taking care of the whole family, which is why I chose a specialty where I can see kids, parents, and grandparents. My own parents are immigrants for whom English is a second language and they had limitations in their own health care due to challenges with navigating the American healthcare system. I chose to work in a community center to help patients like my family.
