What Is CalFresh?
CalFresh is California’s food assistance program, providing monthly benefits on an EBT card to purchase groceries.

Am I Eligible?

  • California residency required
  • Most households qualify with gross monthly income up to 200% FPL; net income must fall at or below 100% FPL
  • No asset test for most households

Renewals
Most households recertify every 12 months, with a shorter Semi-Annual Report (SAR7) due at the 6-month mark. Households where every member is elderly or disabled may qualify for a 24-month certification period.

  • Proof of housing/utility expenses
  • Proof of household size

Recent Updates: 

As of June 1, 2026, most able-bodied adults ages 18–64 without dependents must work, volunteer, or attend school at least 80 hours a month to maintain benefits, with some exemptions.
