22 May Kheir Clinic Spotlighted in Kia’s “Accelerate the Good” Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Campaign
May 22, 2024 – In recognition of its exceptional service to the community, Kheir Clinic has been spotlighted in Kia’s “Accelerate the Good” Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month campaign.
As part of this nationwide campaign, a three-part video series was released that features two of Kheir Clinic’s dedicated Physician Assistants, Angela Kim and Hendrick Cho, cruising in an all-electric Kia EV9 three-row SUV. Kim and Cho share their heartfelt reflections on their upbringing as second-generation immigrants in the United States and how these experiences have shaped their commitment to serving the community.
“Kheir is truly a place where you can feel comfortable. It’s a place where patients can freely be themselves without worrying about being judged or misinterpreted,” explains Hendrick Cho in the featured videos. “That helps our patients a lot in finding the care that they need and deserve.”
Angela Kim sees Kheir as a mirror reflecting the local community, where positive interactions create an impact. As a bilingual healthcare professional, she is driven to bridge language barriers and overcome information gaps.
“In the future, it would be nice to see even more providers like us who mirror the communities we serve,” Angela Kim states in the featured videos. “It’s a lot more meaningful for the patients to see familiar faces and similar backgrounds when they come to their appointments”.
Kheir Clinic was the only healthcare organization featured in the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month video series, a distinction that underscores its unique patient demographic and position as the sole Federally Qualified Health Center in the nation offering a comprehensive suite of healthcare and human services in languages such as English, Bengali, Korean, Spanish, and Thai.
The video series is a further extension of Kia’s “Accelerate the Good” charitable initiative, which has provided more than $22 million to those in need since 2019. Kia has made donations to causes that include treating childhood illness, helping to fight hunger and homelessness, relief for victims of natural disasters, and aid for military families.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kia supplied personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare facilities nationwide and donated 3,000 face shields to Kheir Clinic in 2020. In 2021, Kia addressed transportation barriers faced by underserved populations in accessing medical services by donating two Carnival MVPs. In recognition of their dedication to supporting communities in need, Kia America was awarded the Corporate Leadership Award at Kheir’s 37th Anniversary Gala.
