04 Dec Kheir and LAUSD Partner to Ensure Vaccine Equity for Children
December 4, 2021— Kheir Clinic has begun a partnership with Hobart Elementary School and LAUSD to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines for families in Koreatown and Pico-Union. As part of our collaboration, Kheir Clinic hosted a pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Hobart Elementary’s Holiday Vaccination Fair in early December. Kheir created a “Family Vaccination” experience, providing vaccines for attendees aged 5 and above and booster doses for those who were eligible.
To help families commemorate the milestone, Kheir Clinic set up a photo station where newly-vaccinated individuals could take celebratory photos with signs reading, “I’m Vaccinated!” in English, Korean, and Spanish. In just four hours, Kheir Clinic vaccinated 217 individuals, and the majority were children under age 12. Throughout the event, the line for vaccines was longer than the line to see Santa! We were thrilled to see so many people taking action against COVID-19. The event was also covered by Univision; check out the footage below!
Kheir Clinic will continue co-hosting vaccination events with Hobart Elementary School and other community partners to bring vaccines directly to children and families. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to stay protected against the virus, including variants like Delta and Omicron. Remember that vaccines are safe and effective, kids ages 5-11 receive a smaller dose, and vaccines are always free.
