Kheir Center will celebrate its 33rd Anniversary on October 23rd at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown (VIP reception 6 – 6:45 p.m., Dinner Program 7 p.m.). More than 400 corporate executives, elected officials, healthcare professionals, and community leaders will attend the event. In addition to recognizing the achievements of 2019’s Honorees—chef Roy Choi, the Honorable California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, CPA and Chairman Emeritus and Co-Founder of Hanmi Bank, Joseph K. Rho—the program will look back on Kheir’s exciting history, highlighting the impact and growth of the organization. All proceeds from the event will subsidize health care services for low-income patients at Kheir’s community clinics.
“The Kheir team has great deal to be proud of,” said Kheir CEO Erin Pak. “Seeing our clinics’ impact in recent years has been extraordinary, with enhancements in health information technology, preventive health services, chronic disease management, and programs for diverse populations and immigrant communities. Every day, we see positive changes in patients who have made Kheir Clinics their medical home. It has been our honor to serve them, and they inspire us to continue Kheir’s growth and expansion.”
Roy Choi (founder of Kogi BBQ, A-Frame, Alibi Room, and Best Friend, producer and host of Broken Bread, The Chef Show) will receive the Innovation Award, for inspiring and advocating for underserved communities and his advocacy of food justice in Southern California and beyond.
State Treasurer Fiona Ma, CPA will receive the Leadership Award, for exemplary work increasing access to healthcare for underserved communities.
